Languages.
Why it is necessary to study foreign languages. We study them because
the knowledge of foreign languages is very useful and it can help us greatly in
our everyday life. There are over 2000 languages in the world. Some of them, such as Latin and Old
Greek are dead languages, but they are still fought at schools and
universities, because a lot of people of many professions need them in their
work, for example: physicians, philologists, historians and many other the
knowledge of foreign languages is essential for businessman, pilots, sailors,
shop assistants, writers, musicians and of course teachers of foreign languages. We usually have many reasons to
start learning a foreign language. We need it to communicate with foreigners,
to read foreign newspapers, magazines, to listen to the foreign language radio
programs, to watch foreign films. The knowledge of foreign languages help
people to understand each other better at different festivals and sport
competitions. English is spoken in a great number of countries. It is a state
language in Great Britain, Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, it is widely
used in India, South Africa, Egypt and other countries. Studying of English,
French, German and other languages
educates us because they help us to learn more about different countries, their
customs and traditions, the life of their people. And now that the links
between different countries become closer, we have an opportunity to come in
contact with school children from Sweden, Great Britain and the USA, we can use
our knowledge of English and improve it. I don't know yet whether I will use English in my future profession, but
I'd like to know it well anyway. | |
