Books and Libraries.

(English writer and his book).

   I am fond of reading. I borrow books from the library and I have a lot of books at home. I like books about famous people and sports. I like to read different kinds of books, written by different authors. An English author wrote that some books could be tasted, others could be swallowed and only a few could be digested. This quotation shows exactly why people like to read all kinds of books. For example, most travel books can be tasted. If you like crime stories you will swallow them. Then there are the books that can be read slowly and attentively. You want to digest them. I learned to read long before I went to school. Russian folk tales were my first reading. At school we are studying only classic authors. Some of them may seem dull for young people, but other are really popular.

Daniel Defoe.

    My favorite write is Daniel Defoe. D.D. is an English writer. He was born in 1660 and dead in 1731. D.D. was the son of wealthy parents and received a good education. His father wanted him to become a priest. But young Defoe did not like this idea. For many years he was a merchant. Then he became a journalist. In his articles he attacked the Church and the government.

    He was an old man of sixty , when he wrote his first and best book. It was a book about the life and adventures of a sailor Robinson Crusoe. And the book was called "Robinson Crusoe". Everybody  knows this book. It is translated into many languages, and  children read it with great pleasure. Later Daniel Defoe wrote some other books, but they are not so interesting as the wonderful book about Robinson Crusoe.
